Expert Answers about Toyota Blind Spot Detection

  • Mounting Options For A CUB Blind Spot Monitoring System On A 2012 Toyota RAV4
  • You can definitely shoot some self-tapping screws through the tabs of the CUB Blind Spot Monitoring System # CU94TR to ensure a tight bond along with the 3M tape. As for false readings, we haven't had any reports back stating any issues. We've actually just installed a few of the larger version ( # CU95XR) of these on some enclosed race car trailers and a new Silverado 2500 that I personally test drove afterwards and found the system to be really accurate. This truck used a larger monitor...

  • Connecting a Hitch Light to 4-Way on a 2015 Ford F-150 So it Doesn't Deactivate Blind Spot Detector
  • The easiest way to connect your hitch light to your 2015 Ford F-150 without it deactivating the Blind Spot Detector would be to install an aftermarket 4-Pole Connector. All you need to do is use the Curt 4-Pole Trailer Connector, part # C58044, and splice into your F-150's lights directly behind the tail light housing. The wire configuration will be: Yellow - Left turn/brake Green - Right turn/brake Brown - Tail lights White - Ground This should bypass the sensors for your Blind Spot...

  • Can The Cub Blind Spot Monitoring System Detect Stationary Objects
  • The Cub Blind Spot Monitoring System for RVs and Motorhomes Up to 55' Long # CU52XR only activates while the RV is moving at a speed greater than 15mph which you typically wouldn't be if you were backing into a spot or just worrying about maneuvering around poles and fire hydrants. Instead you would want a backup sensor like the Rear View Safety Backup Sensor System # RVS-115, which doesn't have a minimum speed rating for activation and can help prevent you from backing into or running...

  • Will Installing a Hitch on a 2020 Audi Q5 Reduce Functioning of Blind Spot Detection System
  • I will say that this is the first time I've ever seen anything regarding the blind spot detection system being rendered inoperable on the Audi Q5 when you install a trailer hitch. In addition to the installations we've performed in our shop, many more customers have installed the Curt # C13331 hitch or other hitches designed for the 2018-2020 Audi Q5 and none of them have reported and difficulty with the blind spot monitoring feature. From what I was able to find in my research, the blind...

  • Where to Put Blind Spot/Hot Spot Mirrors on 2014 Toyota Highlander OEM Mirrors
  • Generally blind spot mirrors should be placed in the upper or lower outside corners of the main mirror surfaces. This location tends to minimize the interference with the main central portion of the OEM mirror surface and it also tends to increase the blind spot mirrors' capture of images at the edge of your vision range, which is where you want the help.

  • Trailer Hitch for 2018 VW Golf SportWagen with Blind Spot Sensors
  • I looked at the instructions for each of the trailer hitches that fit a 2018 VW Golf SportWagen and there is no mention of blind spot sensors in the instructions for the EcoHitch # 306-X7315, Draw-Tite # 24949, or Curt # C11422, nor is there any mention of blind spot sensors in the linked installation video of the Draw-Tite hitch being installed on a '15 VW SportWagen. Based on my research, the instructions and the installation video it doesn't look like installing any of these hitches,...

  • Could Furrion Vision S Camera System be Used on Motorhome for Blind Spots
  • You could use the Furrion Vision S Wireless RV Observation System # FCE48TASL-05 on a motorhome and it would give side views to help with blind spots. You'd just have to run power to the sides of the motorhome for the side cameras. Typically, it's the running light circuit used for this. With this setup though you can run the monitor in a grid mode to allow you to see all views at any time too which would be great for blind spots. This does come with a wiring diagram.

  • Is 2019 Ford Ranger with Blind Spot Information System Compatible with Curt Echo Brake Controller
  • The Curt Echo Wireless Trailer Brake Controller # C51180 is compatible with a 2019 Ford Ranger's BLIS (blind spot information system). However, it is NOT compatible with a 2019 Ranger that has the Smart Trailer Tow option. The Smart Trailer is mostly an alert about connection via the 7-way on your Ranger and is not connected with the BLIS. So yes, your 2019 Ranger is absolutely able to use the Curt Echo Wireless Trailer Brake Controller # C51180. I've added links to a couple video reviews...

  • Can K-Source Blind Spot Mirror # KSCW062 Be Used on Driver or Passenger Side
  • The K-Source Blind Spot Mirror # KSCW062 that you referenced can be used on either the driver or passenger side mirror. You will just rotate the lens to the correct orientation depending on which side mirror you are using. This includes 1 blind spot mirror so if you want to mount it to both factory mirrors you would need to order 2.

  • How to Move a Blind Spot Mirror
  • It is possible to move your blind spot mirror like the CIPA Wedge-Shaped, Stick-On HotSpot Mirror - 1-1/2" x 2" - Convex part # CM49002. It will however be hard to remove it with out damaging the adhesive on the back side of it. Your idea of using the hairdryer is the best way to soften the adhesive you'll then pull out on it gently and allow the adhesive to separate from the mirror face. I give it a 50/50 chance of working. If it fails to work for you remove the old adhesive from both...

  • Does the EcoHitch Hidden Trailer Hitch Receiver Cause a Blind Spot on 2016-2019 Chevy Volt?
  • No, the EcoHitch Invisi Trailer Hitch Receiver item # 306-X7338 doesn't create a blind spot. That RF sensor that sits behind the bumper trim and bumper bar gets moved at the 8 min mark in the installation video I have attached. The proximity and back up sensors are inside the bumper trim. When the hitch receiver is installed its behind the license plate bracket and completely hidden.

  • Installation of Hitch on 2019 VW Golf R and Interference With Blind Spot Monitors
  • I've attached photos of an older Draw-tite hitch where it shows photos of where the blindspot monitors are removed during the installation of this hitch. When we haven't physically installed this here in our shop, I do usually tend to trust the manufacturer instructions, but it's always possible that the instructions may be different on this year and model. I spoke with my contact at Draw-Tite and he seemed to think that the instructions were accurate for installation on a 2019 VW Golf...

  • Installation Instructions for Rear View Safety Blind Spot Sensors on 2021 GMC Canyon
  • We do have links to an installation video of the Rear View Safety Blind Spot Sensor System # RVS-BES02 on a 2021 GMC Canyon available on the product page, and also linked to this answer so that you don't have to look for them. However, Rear View Safety does not provide "truck" specific installation instructions, but the process will be generally the same as it would on a sedan, coupe or SUV. I have also linked those written instructions to this answer as well.

  • How to Pick Out Ideal Location for Installing K-Source Custom Blind Spot Mirrors
  • The best way to decide where to install a blind spot mirror like the part # KSCW1009 on a mirror is to basically use trial and error. For the best viewing angle you will want them mounted on the outside edge of the mirror. But in terms of high or low, you would just want to go with what you prefer. I would recommend you temporarily install them on your mirror in several different locations with the mirror angled in several different ways until you find the best viewing angle and then go...

  • Will Rear View Camera and Blind Spot Detection Work After Installing EcoHitch on 2017 Outback Wagon
  • I spoke with my contact at EcoHitch who said that installing the Trailer Hitch Receiver # 306-X7601 on your 2017 Subaru Outback Wagon will not cause you to lose any of the functions that you mentioned, nor will removing the foam cause your bumper to warp. The trailer hitch does take up some of that extra space and if you are skeptical about it I suppose you could trim up your foam but that could get frustrating since it would need to be just right. I have attached an installation video...

  • How to Mount the Wheel Masters Round, Convex Blind Spot Mirror

  • The K-Source Custom Extendable Towing Mirrors - Manual - Driver and Passenger Side # KS61201-02F have a manually adjustable spot mirror as well as a manually adjustable larger mirror face. This gives you control of your view whether expanded or not so you can cover the blind spots that are not visible without that second adjustable mirror.

  • Do The K-Source Snap & Zap Mirrors Allow Safety Functions on Mirrors to Work?
  • I confirmed with my contact at K-Source that the Snap & Zap Custom Towing mirrors # KS80730 will not impact any of the functions that are housed on the side mirrors on your 2020 Ram Rebel, including the blind spot, lane departure or cameras. I attached a picture, but there are some cutouts on the bottom of these towing mirrors that keep the sensors for those functions uncovered and allow them to function.
